Water Blocked Cable
For many wet environment applications.  Normal cables are subject to
damage if water comes through its sheath or jacket.  This moisture
tends to migrate along the length of the cable and can cause damage to
electronics at the ends of the cable and to the cable itself.
We have employed and tested various methods of preventing this type of
damages.  Historically, a cable was flooded and filled with grease or
other viscous compounds, which traps and localizes the invasive
moisture.  This method is effective, but the materials tend to be sticky
and difficult to work with during terminations.
Their use has led to the development of a dry water blocking system.  
The dry system employs yarns and tapes made with super absorbent
polymer materials.  These materials absorb any moisture they come in
contact with and swell with a rapid and dramatic increase in volume.  
This swelling fills the voids and provides a physical barrier against water
migration.
The use of our water block cable provides a real advantage.  The dry
system leaves no residue on your tools or on your hands.  The fillers stay
out of the way when you are making your connections and quickly go into
action when they are needed.
